TOP TEN FILMS OF 2012

Seeing as we are on the eve of the Mayan-predicted Apocalypse, but hopefully enter a New Year, it seems fitting to go through what I thought of the year's cinematic offerings. I have seem numerous films this year, many at the cinema, and a great deal more at home. On this page I will be sharing with you my favourite ten films of 2012, as well as a few that didn't quite make the cut. There will also be a special section dedicated to the worst film of the year (looking at you, Perseus).

Speaking of that, it's probably better to get the worst out of the way.

THE WORST FILM OF THE YEAR

"Wrath Of The Titans"

Directed by Jonathan Liebesman
Released 30th March

You guessed it. "Wrath Of The Titans", the sequel that nobody wanted to the mediocre 2010 remake "Clash Of The Titans" and directed by the 'genius' behind the worst film to grace the screen in 2011, "Battle: Los Angeles", is officially my least favourite film of the year. No, 'worst' is more accurate.

The misuse of such a usually strong cast, source material and phenomenal CGI is despicable. I don't want to waste any more time speaking about this horrendous waste of $150 million dollars, and the £5 spent on watching this, so I will leave you with these words. It. Was. Shit. :O

Looks like we survived the Apocalypse, so I may as well begin with my tenth favourite film of the year.

NUMBER TEN

"Prometheus"

Directed by Ridley Scott
Released 1st June

NUMBER NINE

"Cloud Atlas"

Directed by Lana & Andy Wachowski and Tom Tykwer
Will be released 22nd February 2013

OK, this actually isn't released over here in the UK till late-February next year, but since the original release date is this year and I recently viewed it (albeit using less than legitimate methods) I thought it would make sense to include it.

NUMBER EIGHT

"The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey"

Directed by Peter Jackson
Released 13th December

Merry Christmas!

With that, here is my 7th favourite film of 2012. Hopefully you will enjoy this post, as well as all your prezzies.

NUMBER SEVEN

"The Dark Knight Rises"

Directed by Christopher Nolan
Released 20th July

NUMBER SIX

"The Amazing Spider-Man"

Directed by Marc Webb
Released 3rd July

NUMBER FIVE

"Life Of Pi"

Directed by Ang Lee
Released 20th December

NUMBER FOUR

"Argo"

Directed by Ben Affleck
Released 7th November

NUMBER THREE

"The Master"

Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson
Released 16th November

NUMBER TWO

"The Avengers (Marvel Avengers Assemble)"

Directed by Joss Whedon
Released 26th April

With only one entry left in my list, it had to be...

NUMBER ONE

"Skyfall"

Directed by Sam Mendes
Released 26th October

There a few honorable mentions that I would like to include (in order of release date): "War Horse", "Moonrise Kingdom", "Dredd", "Looper", "Seven Psychopaths" as well as a number of films I would've have like to have seen this year, such as "The Perks Of Being A Wallflower", "Silver Linings Playbook" and "Sightseers".

2013 seems to be a promising year for movies, with January being a very hopeful month, with my highly anticipated "Les Miserables", "Django Unchained" and "Zero Dark Thirty", as well as summer blockbusters "Star Trek Into Darkness" and "Man Of Steel" later in the year, and "Thor: The Dark World" and the second installment in the trilogy, "The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug" in the winter.
